TDIC

Abu Dhabi is one of the cities that witnessing many new projects in the construction field. Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) is the company that organizing all of these new buildings.
However, there are some good projects and other awful. I am going to write about the best and worst of TDIC projects.

In my opinion, I think Qasr Al Sarab is the best project because of several reasons. One is the location of the project which is been built in the middle of Liwa desert. I think it is the best place to relax rest and have a break from daily work in a quiet atmosphere. Also, the design of the retreat is enough to visit it. It looks like an old Arabic castle which might give you the feeling of living in the past. Another reason is the facilities in the retreat centre like the luxury health spa, conference centre, adjoining excursion and tented villages, a children’s playground and an observatory from where guests can monitor the awe-inspiring Liwa night skies which are considered as 5 star facilities.

On the other hand, TDIC have some worthless projects. I think “Abu Dhabi Creek Business Resort” is the worst project of them and that’s for some reasons. First are the facilities which are the same in all other projects and by that I don’t think you can enjoy doing something new or special there. Another reason is the design of the villas in the project which is really terrible and doesn’t have any style in designing.

In summary, what I wrote is just a personal opinion. And as I see it Qasr Al Sarab deserves to be the best project of TDIC because of the reasons I had mentioned.

TDIC is a big company with many nice and new projects. I think soon we are going to see cool buildings made by them.

Cool City Comments

Good Adaptations:

1) Hybrid cars: This kind of cars recharged their energy by storage system, this adaptation consider as one of the best because its banned the burning of the cars oil which will reduced the carbon dioxide proportion on the air. This adaptation is an extremely useful alternative solution.

2) Solar powered plant farms: This adaptation used for providing the plants with energy which came from a connection with a solar powered machine.

3) Public transportations: The Light Rail Transit is of those Public transportations which factorized in the cool cities. These transportations used to reduce the percentage of greenhouse gases.

Bad Adaptations:

1) Complicated Towers: the design technology which provided with natural lights, water and being comfortable with the gulf regions climate.

2) The Cost: This city is too costly because it required a high quality features and options to free this city from carbon dioxide.

3) Water Shortage: This city is in fact an island which surrounded with water and that is rare.

My Carbon Footprint: Problems & Solutions

What is carbon footprint? It's a measure method that illustrates how much the human can affects the environment because of the activities in stead of greenhouse gases. The carbon footprint also measured capacity of carbon dioxide that we factorized it.

From this website http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ that calculates the carbon footprint, I found that my footprint is 4.50 and this is a very high level because it is dangerous level which is harmful for environment. Now I will outline the reasons that consists my carbon footprint and I will mention the solutions to reduce and banned my carbon footprint.

There are several factors that can contain my carbon footprint level. The major factor is my traveling by airplane which burned a massive size of carbon dioxide. The next main problem is that I spent more than five hours every day driving my car from home to college and driving all over Abu Dhabi. Another issue is eating meat and fish and the difficulties to be a vegetarian because I want gain some weight.

As a solution to reduce my carbon footprint is try to change my way of transportations as much as possible, from cars and airplanes to bicycle or even walking. Another solution is to reduce the time of driving my car in the street and try to find something else to do like reading. The last solution but not the least is to change my food system to a healthy diet at least because it's hard to me to be vegetarian.

To conclude, the solutions to reduce my carbon footprint are a lot, but the problem is to apply these solutions to the real life.

An Inconvenient truth - Summary

The former presidential candidate Al Gore presents a documentary movie about "global warming". Al Gore collected his information's by traveling around the world to let the people know what are the risks of this problem is. He talks about how people are the main reason to increase the danger of this issue; he also machined some solution for it.

Al Gore present many reasons to cause global warming, first one is increasing in the carbon dioxide level, which trap heat in the atmosphere and that will rise the temperature of the earth.
With the increase of the temperature the oceans will be warmer and that will lead to create hurricanes like Katrina. Also with the temperature rise it will lead to melt the North Pole ice and that will raise the sea level which can floods many coastal cities. Another problem is changing in the climate all over the world when the water of oceans and melted ice mixed together.

Al Gore also suggested several solutions for the global warming issue. The first one is planting green trees (vegetation), which will reduce the carbon dioxide and keep the atmosphere clean. Second, try to use renewable energy sources which do not pollute our earth.
Finally, the countries from all over the world have to step together to face this major problem.

To conclude, every one of us must help in this problem because we live in the same planet, all countries must co-operate in addition to solve or even reduce the causes of global warming.

“An Inconvenient Truth" Evaluation

“An Inconvenient Truth" a movie was made by a formal presidential candidate Al Gore. In this documentary film he focuses on a very important problem in our life which is global warming. Al Gore presents his film in an interesting way that makes it won two academic awards. Collecting pictures, statistics, graphs and also funny videos, all of that made this issue "Global Warming" a Fact that many people were not aware of it or some of them were not believe in it.

Al Gore makes a very good example of one way to reduce CO2 level (Smoking). He started a campaigned against smoking cigarette after his sister death from lung cancer. His family also closed a tobacco farm which they had in the past. Although he tried to aware the people of global warming but there was a can of coca cola on his desk in China, which is a bad example for the people.

To conclude, I think Al Gore tried hard to explain and deliver the idea of what the world is facing, and what could happened if we don't act fast to stop or even reduce the causes of global warming.

Critical Thinking

What is critical thinking? It is the ability of thinking in a high level and different way that will guide to explore, calculate and create a solution for any situation.

There are critical thinkers every where and every place like: Parents, doctors, professors and lawyers. These critical thinkers have got skills that made them special such as: listing to others conversation carefully and be able to respond for any question. Looking for evidence and supporting your ideas, and also looking and searching for every that seems interesting.

Critical thinking is very important in our life because it plays a major role in changing our life style and also can helps to improve the technology.

There are 6 different levels of thinking in BLOOM'S TAXONOMY theory. Knowledge which is identifying, naming, reacting is the basic of all levels. Second, Comprehension which means understanding and paraphrasing, like translating a text from Arabic to English. After that comes Application, and that when we use both knowledge and comprehension, like solving a problem. Then there is Analysis, this level of thinking needs to exam things or even break them down. After that, Synthesis which considers a high level of thinking because we need to recreate and redesign thing in a different way. Finally, Evaluation which is the highest level of thinking. Who ever get to this level have to be able to critique, assay, and form an opinion.

ChildHood

Hello…

In this section I am going to write a little bit about my childhood.

My name is Ahmed Ebrahim Al Hammadi and I was born in Abu Dhabi in 1988. I have only one brother and two sisters. My brother is older than me but my sisters are younger. I had an amazing childhood and that because I spent my childhood in three different places: Sharjah, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

Every weekend my family and I used to go to Sharjah. My grandfather and grandmother lives there. I had really good time there playing in the neighborhood and after that my brother and I used to sit with my grandfather and he told us old stories. The other part of my childhood was spent in Qatar. Every summer we travel to Qatar because my mother's family lives there. In these three months I played with my cousins, went fishing with my uncle, camping in the desert with my family and made trouble. For example one time there were a football match in the stadium, and our team won the match but one of the other team players said some bad words about us so we started a really big fight that the police came and took us all to the police station, we stayed there for 3 hours until my uncle came and took us. Although we had a long punishment but it was a great time. Even now I travel there every summer to have a good time with my family. I also have many memories of Abu Dhabi and especially in my neighborhood Almror. I learned several things from many bad and good experiences. I had a lot of friends, some of them I stay in touch with them but there are many others that I have lost touch with; I don't really know where they are and how they doing.

Since first grade I always dreamed to become a teacher one day, but now I am studying engineering in the ADMC. Up to now I have had a lot of adventures, but still I have much more to discover in the future. Sometimes I wish I would go back in time and relive my childhood. I have learned a lot because a have did so many wrong things in my childhood. My parents always told me not to do this and that, but now I understand why.

To conclude, I hope you enjoyed reading about my childhood.
And I would like you to write comments, which will be very nice so I can know what you think about my childhood
.
